The prizes in this giveaway are sponsored, but this post is of my own doing. No one paid me to announce to the world that I turn 37 this week.

I turn 37 on Saturday, the 17th.

I am uncomfortable with the number. Not because I’m afraid of aging – quite the opposite. I am grateful to be alive, to live another year, to be here to watch my boys grow up.

No, I’m uncomfortable with 37 because it is a very odd, odd number. I don’t like the number seven. It’s pointy and all angles, like elbows and knees in your ribs. And 37 just doesn’t look as nice and rounded like 36 or 38. It doesn’t roll off the tongue quite as smoothly.

Now that you know my weirdness with numbers, let me tell you about a couple more eccentricities.

I like very tiny, miniature things. Like mini M&M’s, mini cupcakes, teeny-weeny gummy bears – miniaturize anything, I’m all over it.

I also like very exaggerated objects. Like giant inflatable swans and large pencils.

My husband is constantly amused and bewildered by this.

I often wonder about things like: why do some people go barefoot outside, but wear shoes in the house?

I learn visually. I cannot read instruction manuals that do not have pictures. I don’t understand them.

Both of my boys were born on a Tuesday. So was I. I love this fact.

I love giving gifts.

Which brings me to…. the birthday bonanza giveaway!

Thank you to the generosity of my prize sponsors, Jill Smokler of Scary Mommy, Simply Om, Bright Eyes, MakeMine Bodycare and Alma Boheme.

If you haven’t read Jill‘s second book, Motherhood Comes Naturally (And Other Vicious Lies), you must. Jill writes frankly about all that motherhood is…. and isn’t, with her signature honest wit. Along with the book, are 4 awesome limited edition decals designed by Jill for Kidecals. You can use it as a traditional bumper sticker, or rock it on your laptop or iPad!

My gorgeous friend, Kiran, recently launched her fair trade yoga-inspired jewelry company, Simply Om. What I love about Simply Om is, each piece of jewelry tells a story. Each piece gives back to the community and environment it came from. And you will love the gorgeous Nichole Bib necklace, made from organically shaped tagua chips, held together by a leather tie. Simply gorgeous.

Do you know that black and white objects encourage a baby’s visual development? That is the idea behind Bright Eyes Blankets, a company specializing in handmade black and white baby blankets. Completely unique with adorable designs, and handmade in Bali, this makes for a great gift. I love the zebra jersey knit.

I’m such a big fan of MakeMine Body Care. Started by two women with a passion for all things natural, MakeMine has a wonderful, affordable range of fresh, pure and simple body care products. One of their bestsellers is the Get Your Glow On Body Oil – get a glow and smell good? Yes please!

I love handmade goods. I love handmade goods made with love, and that is exactly what my bloggy friend Alma offers in her etsy shop, Alma Boheme. Knit and crochet items that range from bags to scarves to purses, each item is unique and gorgeous. I’m so happy that one lucky winner will be carrying the cowboy satchel, designed by Alma and inspired by the woven bags of India and Peru. They’re lined with vintage fabric, and finished with a leather handle. So pretty.

Five lucky people will win one of these items each! What are you waiting for? Enter from August 12 to 17, by telling me in the comments when YOUR birthday is!

Giveaway is only open to US residents. Winners will be picked via Rafflecopter, and prizes will be assigned randomly.
